There’s A Message Behind “Straight Outta Compton”
Passion. Vision. Courage. These are the messages that this movie illustrates so poignantly through the retelling of these HipHop legends (Ice Cube, Dr Dre, Easy E, NWA). I admit I expected to see violence, nudity, and hear some strong language. What I didn’t expect was to see such a clear message of what it takes to become an American success story.
These are the lifestyles that we dream about (not so much the drugs, meaningless sex, and violence). We want the cars, the house, the family, the clothes, the food, the fame, the power, the lure of a life built on what we are truly passionate about. What person truly wants to live and build an empire for someone else. I don’t. I’m tired of working for someone else.
This is the reason that I’m so passionate in my videos. I knew there was more coming my way if I kept my head down and kept grinding. The hard part was keeping my head down when I began to see a little success. I did not keep my head down as the members of NWA did in “Straight Outta Compton”.
That’s not unlike most successful people that I have met. With a little success comes a whole lot of responsibility. Most people do not plan for the responsibility because they really are after the carefree lifestyle. Then, reality hits. I have a child. I have a family. I have responsibilities. Dang! I should have kept some of that money instead of blowing it on items that will have little to no value years from now (like the TV, expensive car and clothes, fancy dinners, and for me, a lot of partying).
Any good, God-fearing person will tell you that it changes you. You either become even more careless or you buckle down and become responsible. Tales like this are common in Hollywood. Some grow up. Some give up. Some drop off the face of the Earth.
I decided to move forward. I believe that you have to. That’s why you are still reading this. That’s why you subscribe to my updates (if you haven’t yet go do that now at the top right of this page). That’s why you keep dreaming. You can’t keep a good brotha or sista down.
Until next time start creating your “Straight Outta Compton” American success story.
